Studio Phini repurposes and upcycles luxury garments that are too well-made, too well-loved, or too sentimental to let go of — heirloom pieces, designer clothing, occasionwear that's served its original purpose. Rather than replace, we rebuild: reworking fabric, embellishment, and construction into something you'll wear again. This is considered, hand-finished work, done in our London studio, not a quick alteration service.
What we mean by luxury upcycling
Upcycling takes an existing garment apart — fabric, lace, embroidery, hardware — and reconstructs it into something new. It's distinct from repair or alteration: the end result is often a different garment entirely, built around the quality of what was already there. It suits pieces with real fabric or craftsmanship behind them: silk, wool, hand-embellishment, tailoring.

Why choose upcycling over replacing
Buying new doesn't account for the craftsmanship, fabric quality, or sentimental weight already sitting in your wardrobe. Upcycling keeps that intact while giving the garment a function you'll actually use — worn, gifted, or kept as a considered piece rather than boxed away.

FAQ
What does "luxury upcycling" mean? It's the reconstruction of an existing high-quality garment - fabric, embellishment, or construction - into a new piece, rather than replacing it or performing a standard alteration.
What kinds of garments can be upcycled? Almost anything! Most natural-fibre garments with strong construction or fabric quality: silk, wool, tailoring, lace, and hand-embellished pieces respond best. We assess feasibility at consultation.
Is upcycling the same as alteration or repair? No. Alteration adjusts fit; repair fixes damage. Upcycling reconstructs the garment into something functionally different.
How much does luxury upcycling cost? Cost depends on the complexity of the reconstruction and the piece being created. This is discussed and quoted at consultation.
Do you only work on wedding dresses? No, while bridal is a large part of our work, we upcycle and repurpose heirloom, designer, and special-occasion garments of all kinds.
